The clock ticks in monotone as the chafing of numerous pencils start to rub against pieces of paper that will inevitably determine the future of the students who are participating in the event. Stress, and anxiety envelops the students as well as a single individual, among others, who hopes the best for the students whom are practicing to take the ACT through a summer program.

Holly Couch, a senior English teacher, stands idly by, watching her students progress through a very important stage in life which will determine their future.

“ACT school has definitely proven to be very beneficial to a student’s score as long as they’re willing to do all the work that is provided for them. I’ve seen actual students raise their scores a great deal, around three, four to six, or as much as eight to nine points which is good,” Mrs. Couch said. “I personally recommend taking ACT school if you think you need to raise your ACT scores no matter how little the increase. It’s all definitely worth the effort.” she added.

Couch says practice for the ACT is very routine, and is solely based on exercises to take to prepare for the ACT.

“We have teachers like Mr. Horne, and I whom teach the classes as well as give the students who took the course, practice tests. This way students can become accustomed to the actual ACT’s format and hopefully not panic while still working in an environment they’re familiar with.” she said.

Couch said that in order to take the ACT school course, students must follow several pre-requisites.

“You must have taken the ACT before-hand, and you must also register during spring to do so. Classes start around two weeks after the end of school during summer.” Couch said.

            The ACT begins October 27.
